At 16, David Wiener was the youngest professional photographer shooting the America's Cup yacht races. At 18, he was represented by a New York agency and was shooting the Indy 500, US Open Tennis, and Formula One. He then turned his eye to engineering and design, becoming a prolific innovator of products, vehicles, fashion, and brands sold around the world. But he kept his cameras close, documenting his work, eventually turning his many images into modern abstracts designed to elevate automotive artwork, along with other subject matter. International exhibits, corporate commissions and private collections followed, and reinforced David's belief that car art enthusiasts wanted new ways to enjoy their passion, as his artwork around motorsports and other subjects found audiences with private and corporate collectors alike.
David’s career has been defined by his contributions to the automotive industry. He has designed custom Porsches and BMWs and created a wide array of iconic vehicles, products, logos, and brands for global names such as Ferrari, Porsche, Ganassi Racing, Pirelli Porsche, 000, and many others.
My work is driven by a passion for capturing the essence of speed power and beauty inherent in high-performance cars. But more than that I want to elevate the art of the automobile and take Formula One and motorsport into the world of modern art. — David Wiener
David’s highly acclaimed automotive and other artworks have been featured in exhibitions in New York City, Carmel, Paris, Tokyo, Florence, Barcelona, and Seoul. His work has been published in Time-Life Books, Fortune Magazine, Forbes, Newsweek, Yachting, Motor Trend, Robb Report, Maxim, T3, Playboy, and numerous other international journals.
David’s corporate commissions allow him to focus on subject matter critical to his clients while creating series of pieces that speak to their brand and history. Commissions have included Porsche, #2 Wall Street, Synergy Technology, and Underwriters Laboratories (UL). David’s work is in personal and private collections including Jean Todt, Michael Schumacher, Kimi Räikkönen, Mario Andretti, Zak Brown, Alan Parsons, and others.
The studio’s capabilities extend into large-scale public art and sculpture. David’s first outdoor public sculpture, GRAND PRIX, is a 20-foot-tall stainless-steel tower commissioned for The Canyons Resort and the Pendry Hotel, serving as the centerpiece of the resort’s outdoor walking mall, demonstrating the studio’s ability to work at architectural scale.
David Wiener Studio also creates luxury objects and wearable art. Drawing from early exposure to fine silk through his mother’s 20-year career with Hermes of Paris, David collaborated with Italian artisans to produce fine silk scarves featuring his artwork. After extensive material and print testing, these pieces function as luxury fashion, collectible art, or high-end corporate and VIP gifts.
